What is Telehealth/Teletherapy?

Telehealth/Teletherapy refers to medical services provided virtually over a HIPPA compliant technology platform, and is used for delivering many of the same treatments used during in-person appointments.

Examples of areas addressed in Pediatric Occupational Therapy telehealth/teletherapy include:
•Fine motor and gross motor skills
•Writing
•Assisting with self-care – such as dressing, eating/feeding, and grooming
•Managing emotions or behaviors
•Sensory processing skills
•Organizing, planning, and completing tasks
Telehealth/teletherapy was originally created to bring much-needed healthcare services to underserved or rural populations, allowing patients to receive care when they might not be able to.

Nowadays, patients or clients who can access care, may still prefer telehealth/teletherapy – it involves technology and offers convenience as you will not have to leave your home.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, demand for telehealth/teletherapy has increased as more families choose to keep their children home during the pandemic.
